In Search of Suburbia, MoDA, October 2005 - March 2006

The Suburban Landscape, is due for publication in June 2007. The book will explore and clarify the functions and symbolic status of suburban spaces in relation to the ethoses associated with the withdrawal from both country and city, and bring together sociological, historical, semiotic and photographic approaches drawn from visual culture, psychoanalysis and design history and supported by a geographical and economic contextualisation.

This will be a co-authored book of 60,000 words co-edited by Professor Barry Curtis and Elizabeth Lebas. Core contributors from the Study Group on Everyday Life include, besides the editors, Paul Overy, Dr. Rob Stone, Dr. Claire Pajaczkowska and Michael Ann Mullen.
