Intersection
A project by Andrew Kearney, AHRC Research Fellow
Involves exploring the original intentions for the “snack bar” area of the phase II building. At some point in the life of the campus this important intersection space was radically re-designed into it’s current “airport lounge” configuration. Presently seating is fixed in place and fenced off from the corridor. Originally this hub area was outfitted with moveable chairs and pedestrian traffic made its way through the centre of the space. This project will research the reasons why this space was changed and suggest alterations that might return it to its original intent as a social hub within the building. This might include linking this space to the creative activity of the campus by providing opportunities for exhibition of student and faculty projects.
