SPACES BUILDINGS MAKE

Data Digest

Performance/Installation in progress, Middlesex University, School of Arts & Education,
Cat Hill campus, refectory, March 2006

A project by Andrew Kearney, AHRC Research Fellow

This investigation builds on the work undertaken for Peter’s Smoking Room and, like that project, it takes as its starting point statistical and other logistal information about the building.

Selected details about the building’s fabrication and design have been printed in the Ceramics Studios onto glazed dinnerware of the same design and style currently used in the university refectory.

These dishes were randomly entered into the regular refectory stock which are used by staff and students. Video and photography are being used to document this performative research process as it develops over a on-going six month period. In turn these video and photographic texts will be made available (online) to other researchers as part of the developing Spaces Buildings Make Archive.

All of the information used in the design of the plates has been drawn from the Middlesex University Howell Killick and Partridge archive.
