Mumbai Cricket Association is planning upgradation and expansion of Wankhede stadium at Churchgate in Mumbai. The upgradation will take place after the North and South stand is demolished, with a total investment of around Rs.100 crore.

As per the expansion plan, the seating capacity will be increased from 32,000 seats to 42,000 seats and the height of North and South stand will increase from 17 mtrs to 29 mtrs and the upgradation from 2 floors to 4 floors for the same. The stadium will include modern amenities like umpire room, dressing room and public addressing system. Shashi Prabhu & Associates is appointed as architect for the project.

The upgradation work is likely to begin by August 2008 and is scheduled for completion by December 2010
